Camping is one of those familiy activities that can provide exciting experiences. Taking children on camping trips to unknown places adds knowledge to their formitive years. Plus you'd be surprised how many continue the activity once they're grownup and have kids of their own.
Camping is for the entire family regardless of age or gender. There are many things to do or you can do absolutely nothing but "veg out" and just enjoy the surroundings. That will be hard to do if you have kids. Children naturally want to do things especially in a new environment. So plan on activities when they're young - there'll be time to veg when they get older and don't want the folks in everything.
Camping is an affordable venture. By that I mean that you can adjust your means of camping according to how you like to camp and what your budget can handle. How you do it is entirely up to you. Some folks will experiment and buy or rent the cheapest and bare basics to see if they like it and want to continue. Others will jump in with both feet and and go all out. You will see all kinds of accomodations: pup tents, big tents, tent trailers, small trailers, big trailers, and motorhomes of all shapes and sizes. It all boils down to traveling someplace with the family and spending quality time together.
Where you camp is entirely up to you as long as you don't pick a busy time when everybody has the same idea. But our country is such that you can find that "place" for that family outing. And each will have their preference of fun activities.
Things to do are fishing, hiking, swimming, canoeing, water skiing, bird watching, barbequing, hunting, ATVing, biking, photography, campground park activities, and touring the local area. Be sure and research the area to to see what to visit. Usually rest stops and campgrounds will have plenty of brochures and maps.
Don't forget to stop by the local National and State services for their information. You need to talk to them if you will be hiking in their area. They recommend you inform somebody about your plans in case you don't return.
So if you're wondering what to do for that next long weekend or vacation --- THINK CAMPING! Your family will enjoy some quality fun and activities. Those adventures will be remembered for many years. I remember when .............
